This candy cane was super simple and fun to make. It makes for good practice on twisting steel.
Evenly heat one end of the steel in the forge, put it in the vise and use a wrench or custom made twisting tool and give it one or two full twists. You can do more or less if you want, the most twists you do, the tighter they look. Keep track of the number of twists you do and where you start and stop because you will need to repeat it on the other side to give it the same look.
Heat the other end of the steel and repeat the process.
Once you have the twisting done, reheat one end and bend it over around a bending fork or whatever else you have that would give the curve you want.
This project was made from 8 inch long, ⅜ inch square stock. To add a finishing touch to it, I might add a leather cord to hang it.
